Customize Your Site Footer

Your footer appears on all pages of your site and can be customized with social icons and desired links.

This article is for anyone using a Site Builder theme.

Default Footer

By default, your footer will include the following Links:

1. Home Page
2. All Courses link

Home Page

The footer will have a link labelled Home that links to your Home Page, so that students can easily access your Home Page from anywhere on your site.

You can always edit or remove this link if needed.

All Courses

There will be an All Courses link that appears in your header that is linked to a default page that lists all the published and non-hidden courses available on your site. If you would like to check out this default page, the URL will be formatted as https://yoursite.thinkific.com/collections . To access this page on your personal site, you can replace yoursite in the previous link with your Thinkific subdomain.

You can always edit or remove this link if needed.

Social Links

You can also add social icons with links to your footer!

To add a social link to your footer:

1. Go to Design Your Site
2. Select Site Builder
3. Select Home page
4. Click Footer
5. Click Social Links
6. Under Social icon one, select your desired icon
7. Under Link, copy and paste the full URL of your social media account
8. Add additional links as desired
9. Click Save 

Important Considerations

• There is a maximum of 3 social link slots available in your footer. If you need more, it will require custom theme code on your site. If you have any feedback on this, please don't hesitate to let us know!

Copyright

By default, there will be copyright messaging in your footer formatted as Copyright School Name Year. You can hide this text or add your own custom copyright text!

1. Go to Design Your Site
2. Select Site Builder
3. Select Home page
4. Click Footer
5. Click Copyright
6. Optional: Hide text by unchecking Show copyright
7. Optional: Add custom text by leaving Show copyright checked off and adding desired text under Custom copyright
8. Click Save

Links

The default links in your footer can be edited or deleted if desired. You can also add additional links to your footer! You could include links to external pages like a personal website or a blog, or even link to custom pages you’ve created within Thinkific. 

To add a link to your footer:

1. Go to Design Your Site
2. Select Site Builder
3. Click Home page
4. Click Footer
5. Click Add link
6. Click on the Link heading to expand the option menu
7. In the Text field, input the text you would like displayed in your header
8. Under Link, select desired page or Custom URL
9. If Custom URL was selected in step 8, input your desired URL otherwise skip this step
10. Under Open link in, select Same window or New window. This defines how the link will open in a browser.
11. Click Save
    

To delete a link from your footer:

You can delete an existing link from your footer if needed. Sometimes you only have one course for example and prefer not to have the default All Courses link or maybe you simply changed your mind! 

1. Go to Design Your Site
2. Select Site Builder
3. Click Home page
4. Click Footer
5. Click on the desired Link heading to expand the option menu
6. Click Delete block
7. Click Save

Colors & Fonts

Your footer color and font can be customized in your Theme Settings. 

Colors

You will be able to adjust your background and link colors.

Note that color customizations will apply to both your header and footer.

To change your footer colors:

1. Go to Design Your Site
2. Select Site Builder
3. Select Theme Settings
4. Click Colors
5. In the Header & footer block, select your desired colors
6. Click Save
   

Your footer font will be the same as the main body font for your site.

To change your header and body font:

1. Go to Design Your Site
2. Select Site Builder
3. Select Theme Settings
4. Click Typography
5. Scroll down to Body font
6. Select your desired font
7. Click Save
