About Course Pages

Your course page is a webpage on your site where you can showcase your course, and prompt leads to sign up!

Every course that you sell through Thinkific has a course page created by default. You'll often hear different names for these pages, like sales pages or lead pages. In Thinkific, we call them your course pages.

You can add a variety of content to your course page, including a description of your course, curriculum outline, and most importantly - a call to action button to allow students to enroll.

Types of Course Pages

Thinkific offers two different types of course pages:

• AI-Generated Landing Pages: Powered by innovative AI, these pages offer a quick and easy way to create and publish landing pages for your courses. Ideal for those looking to get started quickly - simply follow prompts to automatically generate pages and use the new web page editor to customize design elements (colors, text, imagery, etc.) without any coding needed. These pages are referred to as course landing pages.
• Website Pages: Powered by the Site Builder and Site Themes, these pages feature a classic editor and a variety of default pages and are a great option for those who use third-party apps and want more control over design and customization. These pages are referred to as course product pages.

Setting Your Default Course Page Type

You can update your default course page preferences any time from your global settings.

To use AI-generated Landing Pages:

1. From your Admin Dashboard, select Settings
2. Under the Site tab, select Course landing page
3. Select New landing page with simplified builder and AI content
4. Click Save

To use classic Website Pages:

1. From your Admin Dashboard, select Settings
2. Under the Site tab, select Course landing page
3. Select Classic landing page with support for custom CSS and apps
4. Click Save

When switching between default course pages in your settings, note the following important considerations: 

• If you switch back to using Website Pages after a course is set up using AI-generated Landing Pages, you will need to duplicate the course and rebuild the landing page with the Site Builder. 
• Switching your default course product page type won’t remove any customizations to your site’s theme or third party apps you’ve added, but new pages created with the Landing Pages system won’t support those customizations or apps. 
• If you change your settings, existing landing pages for products won’t be changed at all. Going forward, only newly created products will get the new landing pages.

Getting Started with AI Landing Pages

If you are just starting out, we encourage you to begin with AI landing pages, as these pages are designed to help you launch and get results quickly. As you grow and create multiple products, you can consider creating a full website to host additional information and details about you, your brand, and the products that you offer.

To guarantee that your course landing page looks complete and students can easily enroll, you'll want customize the following things. You can always add more customizations and fine-tune later, but if you're just getting started, make sure to take care of these things first!

How to Access Your Course Landing Page

From your Admin Dashboard:

1. Go to Products
2. Select Courses
3. Click on the course you want to edit
4. Select the Landing Page tab
5. Click Edit page

To see all landing pages created with the AI editor:

1. Go to Channels
2. Select Landing Pages

Customize Your Landing Page

With the Page Editor, you have the flexibility to tailor your AI-generated landing pages according to your unique preferences and branding needs. This powerful tool allows you to make changes to various aspects of your pages - including colors, fonts, layouts, and a variety of different page sections - ensuring that they align perfectly with your vision.

The following can be customized on your landing pages:

• Brand Style: Update your page's fonts, colors, surfaces, and inputs to align with your brand.
• Header and Footer: Customize your page's header and footer such as their design and links.
• Page Content and Images: Simply click on any text box on your page to edit the text, including the ability to use the integrated AI Text Generator to fine-tune your text. You can also click on any image to update them.
• Section Layout and Background Color: Set your preferred layout in each section as well as your preferred background - either a solid color or an image of your choice.
• Add, Remove, and Move Sections: Choose from a variety of different sections to add to your page that highlight key features of your product, as well as remove and re-position any sections to your liking.

Note that modifications beyond what is described, including the ability to add page code under your course settings, are not possible at the moment. If you would like to have more flexibility by adding custom code or using apps, we recommend using Product Pages, which is covered below.

Getting Started with Product Pages

Using our classic Site Builder, these pages feature a variety of different sections and customization options to highlight your course's features. As you grow and create multiple products, you can consider creating a full website to host all information about you and every product that you offer.

Product pages also provide the capability to integrate third-party apps as well as further customize your pages using HTML/CSS through the Theme Code, making this a great option for those who require more complex customization options and are looking for the space to grow their business and solidify their online presence.

To access all of your course product pages that were created with the classic Site Builder:

1. From your Admin Dashboard, select Channels
2. Select Website
3. Click on the Product pages tab

When editing an individual course, you can also access the product page by clicking the Build product page button in the top-right corner of the Course Builder.

Customize Your Product Page

You can edit each Site Builder section by simply clicking the section name in the left menu in Site Builder. Each section will include different elements that can also be edited within the menu. Remember that the right side of Site Builder is for previewing your site only. Any changes you want to make must be made with the left menu:

The following can be customized on your product pages from the Site Builder:

• Banner: Customize your headings, images, and optional CTA blocks, as well as upload a background (Vogue theme) or a hero image (Empire & Vision themes). Banners will automatically include your course's name and description though you can customize this with your own text if you'd like.

Don't include any words or logos in your banner image as they may get cropped when viewed on a phone or small device. Learn more here!

• Header and Footer: Your header and footer are displayed across all pages on your site including your course pages. Here you can add your logo, remove or add links.
• Buy Button: A dynamic buy button that is linked to your course checkout is automatically added to your banner. If you need something custom, you can also add a button to override the default button.
• Course Curriculum: A curriculum section will automatically be included on your course landing page. It will populate all chapters and lessons in that are not currently set to draft.
• Theme Settings: Apply branding and accent colors, styles, and typography across every element of your site.

Add Additional Sections

You can include additional optional Site Builder Sections to your course landing page. Here are a few popular section suggestions:

• Instructor section: Let students know who you are by adding your instructor bio
• Checklist: Provide a checklist of the key outcomes your course will deliver.
• All pricing options [smart section]: If you have additional pricing options for your course, display them all with this dynamic section.
• Frequently asked questions: Help your students make a purchasing decision by covering the most common questions about your course.

Share Your Course

With these two essential sections on your course landing page, you are ready to start sharing! Just make sure your course is published and you can send students a link straight to your course landing page to enroll.
