After creating and publishing your course, there are a few areas that require setup to ensure your launch goes smoothly. Make sure to review this Pre-launch Checklist before launching your course on Shopify!
Follow these steps to make sure that you are ready for a successful launch!
- Build and Finalize Your First Course
Create your first course! - Preview Your Course
Test your course from the student's perspective. - Set Your Course to Private and Hidden
This is automatically applied if you have created your course in Shopify. If you created your course in Thinkific, we recommend setting your course to both Private and Hidden (Private and hidden plans are currently available on our Start plan and above).
If your course is Hidden, the landing page will not be displayed on your Thinkific site, which we recommend if you are using your Shopify pages to sell. Setting your course to Private will block your Thinkific checkout if you plan to sell your courses on Shopify only.
If you plan on selling courses on both Shopify and through Thinkific's Built in Checkout, you should not have your course set to private/hidden. For more details, see Set Your Course Pricing. - Publish Your Course
Publish your course so you can get ready to sell in your Shopify store! - Redirect your Thinkific Home Page
A Home Page is created by default when you create your Thinkific site. We recommend redirecting this to your Shopify store so your students are sent there when they log out of your courses. - Customize Your Thinkific Site's Navigation Bar
Include a link back to your Shopify store in your Thinkific header for students to easily access your store to purchase more products! - Site Name and URL
When you first create your Thinkific account, a default URL will be created that will look something like:
sam-s-school-1a54.thinkific.com
You can customize what appears before .thinkific.com as desired by updating your Site URL!
You can also set up a custom domain for your site, check out Custom Domains. - Customize the Course Player
The Course Player is the course-taking environment - the part of your site where your students can go to watch your videos, take your quizzes, and more. Customize your Course Player color, font and upload your brand logo! - Customize Your Site Welcome Email
Your Site Welcome Email will be sent to new sign ups as soon as they purchase your course. This is an essential step for students to access your course as it includes an Express sign-in link that prompts your new students to create a password for their account and login.
This email can also be fully customized with your branding! - Add a Sign In Link to Your Shopify Store
To make sure returning students can easily access their courses after purchase, we also recommend including a link in your Shopify Store to your Thinkific sign in page.
Your sign in page will be formatted as follows: https://yoursite.thinkific.com/users/sign_in
In the previous example, yoursite will be unique. You will see your Thinkific URL in your browser bar when accessing your Thinkific site. You also have the option to customize this portion of the URL Learn more here: Change Your Site URL and Site Name.
- Make Email, First Name, and Last Name Required Fields
Students signing up on Thinkific require an email address, first name and last name to create an account. You'll need to make sure these fields are required in your Shopify checkout to ensure your students can access their courses.
