As a Creator participating in the Spotify pilot, adjusting your course content to meet Spotify's prerequisites is essential for ensuring a seamless user experience and aligning with the platform's evolving learning content standards.
During the pilot phase, the following high-level course requirements apply:
- The first 2 lessons of your course will be available to Spotify users at no cost.
- The first 2 lessons should deliver substantial learning content rather than serving as introductions.
- A minimum of 4 lessons is mandatory for each course.
- Only video lessons are compatible with Spotify's platform.
- Text content is not supported within video lessons.
- Lesson titles should refrain from using emojis or all-capital letters.
- Chapter titles will not be retained in the final version of the course.
How to Get Your Spotify Course Ready
After a course has been selected for the Spotify pilot, your Thinkific course will be duplicated exclusively for the Spotify pilot program. This duplicate course is entirely separate from your original course and can be edited without impacting the original content. Once editing is complete, simply save your course and proceed to your course settings to finalize your course details and validate your course.
How to Edit Your Spotify Course

- Select a course to update
- Click on the ellipsis and select Edit
- Select the Curriculum tab
- Click on your lessons to edit your course
- Click Save on the top right of your lesson to save any changes
- Select the Save tab then Save & Continue to continue to your course settings
Lesson Error Tags
Lesson Error Tags in your Course Builder help you quickly identify lessons requiring your attention. There are four types of tags, each indicating distinct actions to address specific issues within the lessons. You will need to address all tags to ensure your course meets Spotify’s requirements.
Draft
Draft lessons are used when updating existing content and allow for ongoing improvements without revealing works in progress to enrolled students. It is also often utilized when pre-selling courses while final touches are being made.
For Spotify courses, draft lessons will need to be removed from the draft state. They will not be taken into account during the course validation process nor included in the final course when submitted to Spotify for review.
No Content
Video lessons with no content will need to be completed or deleted. You can upload video content to your video library or through bulk importing before adding it to your lesson. You can also upload your video file directly into your lesson.
Text content within your video lesson is not supported at this time. If you wish to include supplementary material for your lesson, add it as a downloadable file.
You can add downloadable files to your course on the Course Settings page if your content is not lesson-specific. This is a great option for required course materials, such as handouts and course reference materials. These downloadable files will only be accessible after purchase.
Unsupported Lesson
Only video lessons are supported at the moment for Spotify courses. All other lesson types must be removed or reworked into a video lesson. You can attach any additional content as a downloadable file to your video lessons.

Remove Text Content
One of your video lessons has content within the Add Text field. Text content is currently not supported on Spotify. We recommend saving any necessary text information or supplemental course content as downloadable files and attaching them to the video lesson. Your files should be 2GB max.
