You can remove the video play bar on your videos if you would like to prevent students from navigating and skipping through your video.

If you require students to watch a certain portion of your videos before the video lesson counts towards their completion, we recommend using our Video Completion Required Progress Setting.

You have the option to remove the play-bar from your Course Player through your Video Library for individual videos or all of them, preventing students from skipping forward or backward during playback.

How to Remove the Video Play-Bar

  1. Select Learning Products then Video Library from your Thinkific Admin Dashboard
  2. Upload your videos to the Video Library
  3. Select a video file and click the ellipses then select Edit
  4. Navigate to the Appearance section
  5. The Always show playbar toggle will be set to 'On' by default. Toggle it off to hide the video play-bar.
  6. Optional: Select Yes to 'Would you like to apply these appearance settings to all existing videos?' to remove the play-bar from all existing videos

Important Considerations

  • It is recommended to use this feature in conjunction with the video completion requirement feature. This would require a certain percentage of the video to be watched before allowing students to mark the lesson as complete. Otherwise, students will be able to mark the lesson as completed and have the play-bar reappear.
  • Once the play-bar is disabled, it will remain disabled until the student watches the entirety of the video and marks the lesson as complete. The play-bar will be re-enabled automatically on a per-student basis and will remain enabled for the student, allowing them to revisit the video without having to rewatch the entire video again.
