Question
- How can I make sure my course or site is accessible?
- What does my site sound like when accessed through a screen reader?
- Are Thinkific sites accessible to screen readers on a mobile device?
Solution
If you want to be sure that your website or course materials are accessible to students using a screen reader or similar assistive technology, the best approach is to install a screen reader and test the content yourself:
- If you use Chrome, you can install their Screen Reader extension to test the browser-based experience
- NV Access is a more comprehensive, open-source screen reader for OS X or Windows
- For mobile, most phones will include a built-in screen reader you can use for testing. iOS phones include VoiceOver, and you can enable TalkBack on an Android phone.
