Question
- Can I prevent students from skipping Multimedia Lessons that are set as pre-requisites?
- I have an external tool embedded in a Multimedia Lesson, but students are able to click Complete & Continue even though it's a pre-requisite.
Solution
When using externally-hosted content in Multimedia Lessons (such as a Google Form), the lesson embeds part of another site within your Thinkific lesson. In order to protect your site and your students, web browsers use what's called an iframe to implement this sort of embedding. To preserve security, the web browser doesn't allow for communication between an embedded site and the parent (the Course Player).
Because of this, the Course Player will not be aware of the activity within the iframe from the student, so the Complete & Continue button will always be displayed here - it is ultimately the student's responsibility to go through the content and click this button once it's completed.
Currently, we do not have a way to prevent students from skipping pre-requisite Multimedia Lessons. However, what you can do is implement a Survey Lesson or Quiz Lesson instead and set it to pre-requisite, as well as require a passing grade if a quiz is used.
