If you are accepting payments with Thinkific Payments or Stripe, you can change the currency of your site!
Currency is applied site wide. If you are also connected with PayPal, the currency set within Thinkific Payments or Stripe will automatically apply to PayPal as well.
Thinkific Payments
By default, your currency will automatically correspond with your selected country when first creating your account. Click here to learn more about Thinkific Payments.
Thinkific Payments allows you to display your product prices in a buyer’s local currency based on their location and the real-time exchange rates, while you continue to price products in a single base currency. Learn more here:
To Change Your Site Currency:
- Go to Settings
- Select the Payments tab
- Under the Pricing currency section, select Change Currency
- Select the desired currency
- Click Update Currency
We do not recommend changing your currency after making your first sale, as Thinkific Payments does not allow users to make purchases in multiple currencies. For example, if a student pays for a product in USD, and you change your currency to CAD, the student will need to create a new Thinkific account under a unique email address in order to make the CAD purchase.
Stripe
When first connecting with Stripe, the default currency will be $USD. This currency can be customized as desired. All courses and bundles will be sold in the currency you set within your Stripe integration settings in Thinkific.
To Change Your Site Currency:
- Go to Settings
- Select the Payments tab
- Select the desired currency under Currency in the Stripe block under Card processing
- Click Save
PayPal
PayPal is usually set up as an additional provider alongside Thinkific Payments or Stripe. Currency cannot be set at the PayPal level, but will take on the same currency you set in Thinkific Payments or Stripe. This means the currency set within Thinkific Payments or Stripe will automatically apply to PayPal as well.
If you are only connected to PayPal, the default currency is USD and cannot be customized.
Important Considerations
- PayPal does not support all of the currencies available in Stripe. If you are connected with both Stripe and PayPal, but your chosen currency is only supported in Stripe, your PayPal button will not work. Make sure to check out PayPal's supported currencies here if you plan on connecting Stripe and PayPal to your checkout: PayPal Supported Countries and Currencies
