There's no way to prevent students from sharing logins as we do not want to limit students from accessing your course on multiple devices, but we don't see this issue often. This is for a couple of reasons:
- On a shared account, it would be hard for an individual to keep track of their progress through the course. The system is designed to track student progress and resume course content where they left off. As such, it's difficult for the experience to be replicated for more than one individual.
- Also, generally most online students are honorable people! We find that when students invest money and time in a course, it is less likely that they will want to share this with others.
That said, if you are concerned about sharing and would like to monitor student activity, there are a few options:
- In your Users page, you can view a students Sign in count as well as IP address. This will update as they login, so you may want to export it daily if you are monitoring over a period of time.
- You can also use our Mixpanel integration for monitoring student activity. This integration makes login sharing even easier to spot. You'll be able to see whether the same account is being accessed from multiple locations. But make sure to keep in mind that it may just be the same person on different devices of course!
If you notice suspicious activity, you always have the option to unenroll the student. We recommend including some information in your Terms of Service that prohibits login sharing in the case that you need to take action that is disputed by a student.
All that said, we haven't experienced problems with shared logins historically, but we're always investigating new feature options and updates and if you have any feedback on this, please don't hesitate to let us know!
