The Get Started Reminder is an automated email that prompts a learner to begin their course if they haven't made progress within 48 hours of enrolling in their first course. Site Owners and Site Admins can turn it on for their site from the student notification settings.

How the Get Started Reminder Email Works
When a learner enrolls in their first course and hasn't made any progress within 48 hours, Thinkific automatically sends them a single reminder email with a link back into the course. This is a one-time send per enrollment - it doesn't repeat if the learner still doesn't return, and it only applies to a learner's first course enrollment, not to courses they enroll in afterward.
How to Enable the Get Started Reminder Email
- From your Admin Dashboard, select Users
- Select Notification Emails
- Make sure you're on the Student tab
- Click the toggle beside Get Started Reminder
Important Considerations
- The Get Started Reminder is off by default. A Site Owner or Site Admin needs to turn it on before eligible learners will receive it.
- It only fires on a learner's first course enrollment - it won't re-trigger for additional courses the same learner enrolls in later.
- It's a one-time send per enrollment. If the learner still doesn't return, no follow-up reminder is sent.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will this email be sent to all of my enrolled learners?
No. It exclusively targets new learners signing up going forward, so longstanding inactive learners aren't contacted automatically.
Is the Get Started Reminder turned on by default?
No. It's off by default - a Site Owner or Site Admin needs to turn it on from the student notification settings.
Can I customize the email copy?
Not currently. Unlike some other student email notifications, the Get Started Reminder's content can't be edited from the notification settings.
