Add a widget to the Learner Hub home page that tracks learners' weekly learning streak — helping them build a consistent study habit and stay motivated to complete their courses.
Applies to:
- Platforms: Web
What's New
- A new widget can be added to the Learner Hub that tracks learner engagement: a growing plant. Each week (Mon-Sun) a learner completes at least one lesson, their plant grows a new leaf.
- If a learner misses a week, their plant droops — giving them a clear, gentle signal to come back and keep their streak alive.
- Learners can tap the plant to open an info panel explaining how streaks work and how to maintain their streak.
- Admins can see the streak widget in their admin view of the Learner Hub, along with a count of how many learners currently have an active streak.
How Learner Engagement Streaks Work
A streak is a count of consecutive weeks in which a learner has completed at least one lesson. When a learning streak widget is added to the Learner Hub, learners will see a growing plant. Each week the streak is active, a new leaf grows on the plant widget. Missing a week causes the plant to droop, signalling that the streak has paused. To restart or continue, the learner simply completes a lesson in the current week. Streaks are tracked at the learner-account level across all courses. The widget appears automatically on the default Learner Hub home layout — learners see it as soon as they open their Learner Hub.
Getting Started
Important Considerations
- The Learner Engagement Streaks widget is available to all learners on the Learner Hub. Learn how to switch to the Learner Hub here: Switch to the Learner Hub.
- The Learner Engagement Streaks are currently not supported on the Thinkific Mobile app or Branded apps.
- The streak widget is automatically added to the default Learner Hub home layout. However, if you have customized your Learner Hub layout will need to add the widget manually. Learn how to do it here: How to Customize Your Learner Hub.
- A streak requires completing at least one lesson per week. Partially viewed lessons do not count — the lesson must be marked as complete.
- Currently, there is no streak freeze or grace period. Missing a week causes the plant to droop.
- Email reminders for at-risk or broken streaks are not supported. Turn on the weekly reminder emails to engage your learners.
- For the purposes of the learner engagement streak, the week runs Monday through Sunday.
- The Learner Engagement Streak widget in the Admin view of the Learner Hub will display the total count of learners with active streaks. For more detailed engagement analytics, see: Thinkific Analytics: Engagement Dashboards.
Frequently Asked Questions
What counts as completing a lesson for the streak?
A lesson must be marked as complete in the course player. Simply opening or partially viewing a lesson does not maintain a streak. A learner needs to complete at least one lesson per week to keep their streak growing.
What happens if a learner misses a week?
When a learner misses a week, their plant droops, indicating their streak has paused. To restart their streak, they will need to complete a lesson in the current week. Their plant will begin growing again the following week.
Why don't I see the streak widget on my Learner Hub?
If you customized the Learner Hub layout, the Learner Engagement Streaks widget is not added to the page automatically. Learn how to add the widget manually here: How to Customize Your Learner Hub.
