Question
- Why are my dashboard and transaction amounts different?
- How is the revenue number on my dashboard calculated?
Solution
The number shown under Revenue on your admin dashboard is your total revenue of purchases made on your site.
This does not take into account any payment processor fees which may apply.
Additionally, if you take a look at the Orders Report the Order displayed refers to a purchase the student made for a specific course or bundle. A Transaction is the actual payment that was made, for a specific order. Payment Plans and Subscriptions can have multiple transactions listed under the same order.
The Orders option will export individual orders that were created during the date range that you have applied while the Transactions option will show each individual line item that occurred during that period.
While you may see transactions for a particular order in a date range, if the order was not created in that date range, it will not appear in the order export.
For this reason, the orders and transactions reports may show different values.
Important Considerations
- If you are using Integrate with Paypal with Thinkific's Built in Checkout, and have Instant Payment Notifications (IPN), we also suggest checking this is set up correctly to track refunds on Thinkific.
