Videos lessons within your course can be set to autoplay. Sometimes you'll notice that they are not autoplaying as expected when you have this enabled. This will cover reasons why this might be happening.
If you've added text beneath your video lesson, autoplay will be paused for this lesson so that the course player doesn't skip to the next lesson before your student has had a chance to finish reading the text.
Recently, there have been many changes to video autoplay in a lot of browsers (see here for Chrome's updates) and with our video host as well (see Wistia's changes here), so we made some adjustments to how videos autoplay.
The autoplay feature differs based on browser as some browsers will block autoplaying videos. Because of this, our Course Player will only autoplay if the browser allows for autoplay with sound. This means if the student's browser does not allow autoplaying with audio, the video will not autoplay. This prevents the video from autoplaying on mute to prevent the student from missing the first part of the video in the case that they don't enable sound right away.
There are some browsers where you can change this setting like in Safari and Chrome, however this is dependent on each student's browser, so we recommend encouraging your students to enable autoplay on your site if they have any questions about this. Unfortunately we don't have any way of forcing the autoplay to override browser settings.
