What is the Difference between Deleting and Archiving?
If you no longer require a course and would like to remove it from the list of your courses, you can delete or archive it.
Course Deletion
When a course is deleted, it is permanently and irreversibly removed, alongside any information associated with it. This means that the course content and course settings will be permanently deleted. It is not possible to recover the deleted course.
A course can only be deleted if there have never been students enrolled in it. This means that if you created a test course, you can only delete it if you have never enrolled any test students.
The reason for this is that deleting courses that have had students enrolled would impact other aspects of your data. For example, the corresponding Affiliate commissions and Order information would also have to be removed, as well as your students' progress through the course.
To keep your data complete, we don't allow the course to be deleted from your course settings unless there have been zero enrollments.
Course Archival
The Course Archival feature is available on the Basic plan and above.
When a course is archived, it is removed from the list of Courses and moved to the Archived tab. Archiving the course preserves the associated data, and the course can be unarchived at any time.
If a course is published, it will remain published and existing enrolled students will continue to have access to the course. The course access settings, such as Private and Hidden settings, will remain the same.
If you would like to remove access to the archived course completely, we recommend:
- Setting the course to Private and Hidden if you want to prevent future enrollments while maintaining the course accessibility to already enrolled students.
- Unpublishing the course if you want to prevent future enrollments and ensure the course is not accessible to enrolled students.

Important Considerations
- To learn how to archive other products, see: How to Archive Your Products.
- The Course Archival feature is available on the Basic plan and above.
- It is not possible to delete a course that has had enrollments, even if these enrollments have been expired.
- If a Site Owner, Site Admin, and/or Course Admin have previewed your course as a student, this does not count as an enrollment.
- Archived courses will still be available via API and Webhooks.
- The Site Owner, Site Admins, External Partners, and Course Admins can delete or archive courses.
- At the moment, it is not possible to archive courses in bulk or archive communities, memberships, or digital downloads. We are continuing to work on Product Archival functionality - if you have any feedback, we would love to hear from you!
