Question
- Can I teach my course using weekly emails to students in Thinkific?
- Is there a way to set the timing of lessons in Thinkific to be emailed out to my students?
Solution
Thinkific's features best support courses offered through the Thinkific Course Player and the various Thinkific Lesson Types. However, the email features built into the platform can be adapted to offer an email-based course. Find more information about how you can set that up, and additional options for your email-based course using app connections, below.
Email-Based Course Solutions Included in Thinkific
Automated Email Notifications
Automated email notifications are included in Thinkific to support students when they first sign up for your site or enroll in one of your courses. You have the option to personalize these email notifications to send students additional resources.
As these email notifications are intended to support the learning experience on your Thinkific site and in the Course Player, there isn't currently the option to schedule emails to students.
However, one option for a recurring, automated email is the Weekly Reminder Email. This email is sent once a week on Sunday, between 3:00 AM and 5:00 AM UTC, to all students enrolled in a course on your Thinkific site.
Mass User Email
The Mass User Email feature is an easy way to email several students at once. Unlike the Weekly Reminder Email, with Mass User Email you decide when to send new email content for your email-based course.
When combined with the Groups feature, this is a powerful - although manual - way to deliver content to student cohorts via email.
Email-Based Course Solutions Using Apps
Email Automation Apps
With the Thinkific App Store, there are several email automation apps that you can connect with your Thinkific site. For a complete list check out our article: Overview - Email Automation Apps.
We recommend reviewing the individual apps to see which will support any specific features you need for your email-based course.
Zapier Automations
If you don't see your preferred email automation app in the Thinkific App Store, or if the trigger you're looking to use in Thinkific is not supported, Zapier may be a good fit for your email-based course.
Zapier triggers are also a great way to supplement lesson content hosted in the Course Player with additional, automated resources. For example, the Lesson Completed trigger can be used to trigger an automated email with additional content.
