Question

  • What is my A record for my domain?
  • Where can I find my A record?
  • My host provider says I need my A record
  • I need my DNS A record

Solution

An A Record points to an IP address. At Thinkific, we use cloud-based servers. This means, our IP address may change periodically, so we are unable to provide an IP address for an A record.

Sometimes, a domain host will ask for an A Record when setting up a CNAME record for your custom domain. However, this is not necessary.

Rather than an A record, Thinkific requests you create a CNAME record to set up a custom domain with your Thinkific site instead.

If you are still looking to set up an A Record, we suggest referring to this Help Centre article: How do I access my site without www?
