Thinkific gives you several ways to manage the users on your site — editing their details, messaging them, enrolling or unenrolling them from products, or removing their access entirely. This article orients you to every action available from the Users page and where to go for step-by-step instructions.

How User Actions Work
Every action starts from Users > All Users. Select one or more users with the checkboxes to reveal an actions bar for acting on everyone selected at once, or select the ellipses (three dots) at the end of a single row to act on that user alone — most of these individual actions are also available from the user's own profile page. Actions that change a user's access take effect immediately and are reflected in the table right away: for example, a deactivated user is hidden from the default view until you filter for them. To search, filter, or customize what the table displays, see User Table: User Report and Filters.
Managing Multiple Users at Once
Select users with the checkboxes (or the header checkbox to select everyone) to reveal the actions bar. Use this when you need to message, enroll, or update several users in one step instead of repeating an action one at a time.
| Available action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Send one email to all selected users | |
| Enroll | Enroll selected users in one or more products |
| Unenroll | Remove selected users' access to one or more products |
| Export | Download a CSV of the selected users |
| Manage attributes | Add or remove attributes on the selected users |
| Add to groups | Add selected users to one or more groups |
| Remove from groups | Remove selected users from one or more groups |

Managing an Individual User
Select the ellipses (three dots) at the end of a user's row, or open their profile page, to act on that one account — editing their details, signing them in directly, or changing their access.
| Available action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Edit | Edit the user's name, email, password, and custom fields |
| Copy express sign-in link | Copy a link that lets users set their password the first time they log in |
| Send message | Send an email to the user |
| Manage attributes | Add or remove attributes on this user |
| Deactivate / Reactivate | Block or restore the user's ability to sign in, without affecting their data |
| Delete | Permanently erase the account and most of its data |

Choosing the Right Action to Remove a User's Access
Thinkific gives you three ways to remove a user's access, and they aren't interchangeable. Unenrolling only affects one product, deactivating blocks the whole account while keeping everything intact, and deleting is permanent.
| You want to.... | Use | Reversible? | Data kept? |
|---|---|---|---|
| End access to one or multiple products only | Unenroll | Yes | Yes |
| Block sign-in to the whole site | Deactivate | Yes | Yes |
| Permanently erase the account | Delete | No | No |
Important Considerations
- Deactivated users are hidden from the Users table by default. Filter by Status: Deactivated to find and manage them.
- You cannot delete or deactivate your own account or the Site Owner's account.
Frequently Asked Questions
A user disappeared from my Users table, where did they go?
They were most likely deactivated. The table shows active users by default — select Filters and choose Status: Deactivated to find them. If you cannot find them using the Deactivated filter, confirm that they are not using a different email address or that they have not been deleted.
