Learners can now set up a recurring study schedule for any course right from the Learner Hub, and sync it to their personal calendar so coming back to study takes a single tap.

Applies to:

  • Role: Learner
  • Platform: Web (Learner Hub)
  • Products: Courses

What's New

  • Learners choose the days, time of day, and session length that fit their week for a specific course (for example, "every Tuesday & Thursday, 7:00 PM, 45 minutes").
  • The schedule exports as recurring events to Google Calendar, or as a downloadable ICS file that works with Outlook, Apple Calendar, and other calendar apps.
  • Each calendar event deep-links straight back to the course, so returning to study is a single click from the learner's own calendar.

How the Study Session Scheduler Works

A learner opens the scheduler from the "Add study schedule" action on a course card in their Library. They pick which days of the week they want to study, a time of day, and a session length. Once saved, the learner chooses to add the schedule to Google Calendar (which sets up the recurring series automatically) or download an ICS file to import into another calendar app. Each generated calendar event links back to that specific course, so clicking the event from a calendar app takes the learner directly back into the course player. The schedule is course-specific and is set up once - there is currently no in-app way to edit a saved schedule; learners create a new one from the course card if their plans change.

How to Set Up a Study Schedule for a Course

  1. From your Learner Hub, go to your Library
  2. Find the course you want to schedule study time for
  3. Select the ellipsis (three dots) icon on the course card
  4. Select Add study schedule
  5. Choose the days of the week, time, session length, and how long to repeat the schedule for
  6. Select a method to add to your personal calendar(s):
    1. Add to Google Calendar to create the recurring series directly in Google Calendar
    2. Download ICS file to save a calendar file you can import into Outlook, Apple Calendar, or another calendar app

If you chose Google Calendar, you'll be taken to Google Calendar to confirm and save the recurring event series. If you downloaded an ICS file, open the downloaded file and follow your calendar app's prompts to import it.

Important Considerations

  • Native calendar integration is currently limited to Google Calendar. Outlook, Apple Calendar, and Yahoo Calendar are supported only through the ICS file download, since those providers require an OAuth connection per learner to support live recurring event links.
  • Deleting the calendar event from a personal calendar does not affect the learner's progress or enrollment in Thinkific - the schedule is a personal reminder only and isn't tracked as a two-way sync.
  • The scheduler is currently course-specific; a course-agnostic version (set up from Home or Library without picking a course first) is not yet available.
  • Mobile app support is not available at this time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I edit a study schedule after I've saved it?

Not from within Thinkific directly. Create a new schedule from the course card with your updated preferences, and manage or delete the corresponding event in your calendar app.

Does deleting the calendar event cancel anything on my Thinkific account?

No - the calendar event is just a personal reminder. Deleting it from your calendar does not change your enrollment, progress, or any Thinkific settings.

Is the Study Session Scheduler available on the Thinkific mobile app?

At this time, the Study Session Scheduler is only available on the Learner Hub web experience only.

Why don't I see the option to add a study schedule?

The Study Session Scheduler is only available if your school uses the Learner Hub (not the Classic Student Dashboard) and only appears on course cards for courses you're enrolled in.
