You can use @space in a community post to send an in-app and push notification to all members of the current space at once. Unlike mentioning a specific person, @space reaches everyone in the space — useful for announcements, urgent updates, or anything the whole group needs to see.

How to Use @space in a Community Post

  1. From your Admin Dashboard, go to Products
  2. Select Communities
  3. Select the community you want to post in
  4. From your community, navigate to the space where you want to post
  5. Click to create a new post
  6. In the post composer, type @ to open the mention picker
  7. Type space or scroll to find it — space appears as the first suggestion
  8. Select space from the picker. A chip labelled @space will appear in your post
  9. Finish writing your post and click Post

All members of the space will receive an in-app and push notification linking directly to your post.

Important Considerations

  • Any community member with posting access to the space can use @space — this includes site admins, community moderators, and learners.
  • @space can only be used in top-level posts. It is not available in threaded replies.
  • You can only include @space once per post. If you add it a second time, the post will not submit — remove the extra @space chip before posting.
  • @space notifies members of the current space only. Members of other spaces in the same community are not notified.
  • The post author does not receive a notification from their own @space mention.
  • Email notifications for @space are not yet available. Stay tuned for future updates.
  • @space notifies everyone in the space, so use it for content that's genuinely important to the whole group — such as announcements, urgent updates, or calls to action.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I add @space by editing a post after publishing?

If you add @space to a post that did not originally include it, the notification goes out at the time of the edit. If @space was already in the post and you edit other content, no additional notifications are sent.

I used @space but members didn't receive a notification — why?

@space is only available in top-level posts, not in replies. Additionally, only @space is available per post.

Can I limit who can use @space?

No, it is not possible to limit who can use the @space. By default, any community member with posting access to the space can use @space — this includes site admins, community moderators, and learners. If you want to limit who can make posts, you can limit posts in your space and make it read-only. Learn more here: Customize and Manage Your Community Spaces.
