What's New with the Custom Navigation Pages in the Learner Hub

  • Add up to 10 custom navigation pages to your Learner Hub alongside the default pages.
  • Choose your page type — create an internal page where you add widgets, or add an external URL that opens a linked page or website outside the hub.
  • Embed external content directly in the Learner Hub using the Web page widget — display any web page as an iframe within your hub.

How Custom Navigation Pages in the Learner Hub Work

Custom Navigation Pages extends the Learner Hub's primary navigation with pages you define. Each custom page can either be hosted in the Learner Hub or be opened in a new tab as an external URL that redirects learners to any web address you specify. Custom pages hosted on the Learner Hub use the same widget layout editor as the Learner Home page. All custom pages are visible only to logged-in learners, and you can reorder, show, or hide any page at any time from your Navigation settings by following the steps here: How to Customize Your Learner Hub.

Getting Started with Custom Pages in the Learner Hub

  3. Select Navigation
  4. Select Add custom page
  5. Enter a label for the page — this is what learners see in the navigation menu

How to Build and Edit a Custom Learner Hub Page

When you first create a custom page hosted in the Learner Hub, it will appear blank and hidden from your learners. Before the page can be made visible to learners, you will need to build the page. To do so:

  1. From your Admin Dashboard, select Learner Hub
  2. Select Customize learner hub
  3. Select Navigation
  4. Find the custom page you want to edit
  5. Click on three ellipses (three dots)
  6. Select Edit page
  7. After the custom page opens, select Edit layout
  8. Drag and drop desired widgets to the custom page. Select widgets from the list of default ones or create a custom widget to include on your custom page!

Add the Web Page Widget to the Custom Learner Hub Page

Custom pages allow you to select any widgets from the list of default ones or create a custom widget to include on your custom page. The custom learner hub page allows you to add a widget unique to custom pages: a web page widget

The web page widget allows you to embed and display any web page on your custom page. Note that the widget requires a URL that allows embedding — some websites block iframes and will not display correctly inside the Learner Hub.

To add the web page widget:

  1. From your Admin Dashboard, select Learner Hub
  2. Select Customize learner hub
  3. Select Navigation
  4. Find the custom page you want to edit
  5. Click on three ellipses (three dots)
  6. Select Edit page
  7. After the custom page opens, select Edit layout
  8. Drag and drop the web page widget to your page
  9. Click Publish changes
  10. In the web page widget, select which Thinkific page or an external URL the widget should display
  11. Select Fetch

To edit the web page widget:

  1. From your Admin Dashboard, select Learner Hub
  2. Select Customize learner hub
  3. Select Navigation
  4. Find the custom page you want to edit
  5. Click on three ellipses (three dots)
  6. Select Edit page
  7. Find the web page widget you added
  8. Select the cog icon
  9. Change the URL or the page that is displayed
  10. Select Update

Important Considerations

  • You can add up to 10 custom navigation pages. This is in addition to the default navigation items (Library, Catalog, Community, etc.).
  • Custom navigation pages are visible to all logged-in learners on your site. There is currently no per-learner or per-membership visibility control for custom pages.
  • Custom navigation pages are part of the logged-in Learner Hub experience only. Public-facing site navigation is managed separately in Site Builder.
  • Note that the custom pages do not support multicolumn widget layout. At the moment, widgets must be placed in one column and can be moved around but cannot be resized.

Frequently Asked Questions
