About This Feature

Video Engagement Reporting can help you gain valuable insights into how your students are interacting with videos throughout your courses. Curious about which videos have the highest play rates or when students drop off? Video analytics can help you determine which videos are highly engaging as well as areas to refine, so you can make data-informed improvements to your content.

Data in the report may take up to 24 hours to update. If you don't see any data in your report yet, and students have recently watched your videos, this is likely due to the report's refresh timeframe. Check back later to view your report!

High-Level Video Analytics

Video Engagement Reporting includes high-level analytics for all videos in your Video Library including:

  • Total loads: This is the total number of times all videos have been loaded on a page since they were originally uploaded to your site. 1 load means that there has been a visitor on the page that video is included on, whether it be a landing page or within a course lesson.
  • Total plays: This is the total number of times all videos have been played since they were uploaded. A student must click play on the video or it must auto-play for this number to increase. This is why you may see a higher number of Total loads than Total plays.
  • Total hours watched: This is the total number of hours watched across all videos since they were uploaded.
  • Total visitors: This is the total number of unique visitors across all videos since they were uploaded.

Individual Video Analytics

At a per video level, you can also see:

  • Average engagement: This is how much of your video, on average, people are watching. Average Engagement = Hours Watched/ (Total Plays * Video Length)
  • Play rate: This is how often your video was played compared to how often the video was shown on a page. If a visitor views a page with a video but does not click play on the video, this will negatively impact your Play rate. Play Rate = Unique Plays / Unique Views
  • Loads: This is the total number of times a video has been loaded on a page since it was originally uploaded to your site.
  • Plays: This is the total number of times a video has been played since uploaded.
  • Hours watched: This is the total hours watched since the video was uploaded.
  • Visitors: This is the number of unique visitors who have seen the page your video was on since uploaded. The video does not have to be played for the visitor count to increase.

Video Details

For each video, you can also dive into a detailed view that provides all of the above analytics as well as a visual of video engagement including watches and rewatches at specific times in your video.

This can help you determine specific times throughout your video that are more engaging and where students are dropping off.

Exporting this report will also provide:

  • Engagement peak: Highest number of watches at a particular time in your video
  • Engagement peak time: The specific time your video had the highest number of watches
  • Engagement lowest: Lowest number of watches at a particular time in your video
  • Engagement lowest time: The specific time your video had the lowest number of watches
  • Rewatch peak: Highest number of rewatches; a rewatch means a specific student watched this time of the video more than once
  • Rewatch peak time: The specific time your video had the highest number of rewatches
