Adding, Editing and Deleting Certificates
The Site Owner and Site Admins can add, edit and delete course certificates from the Certificates page in the Admin Dashboard:
- Go to Support Your Students
- Select Certificates
From here, you can select + New Certificate to add a new certificate.
To edit or delete an existing certificate, you can click the ellipses (three dots) to the right of your desired certificate:
Deleting or editing an existing certificate will only affect students who complete your course moving forward. Certificates that were previously issued will not be impacted.
Viewing Courses Assigned to a Certificate
Your Certificates page will also display the courses that are currently assigned to each certificate, so they are easy to see at a glance!

How to View a Student's Certificate
Once a student has had a certificate issued, it will be visible within their student details.
- Go to Support Your Students
- Select Users
- Locate your student and click on their name
- Click on the Enrollments tab
- In the Certificate Issued column, select Edit
- Click View certificate page
From here, you can view their existing certificate and download it as a PDF file!
How to Edit a Student's Certificate
Sometimes you'll need to make a change to one of your student's certificates. This is common for name changes or issue date edits that are required. In Thinkific, you can easily update a certificate for a specific student!
Updates will only be reflected on the specific student's certificate and once you save your changes, your student can download the updated certificate directly from their student account.
- Go to Support Your Students
- Select Users
- Locate your student and click on their name
- In the Certificate Issued column, select View for your desired certificate
- Customize any text that appears in the left column
- Click Save to apply changes
Your student will now be able to download the update from within their course or My Account settings. You also have the option to download the certificate and email it to them directly!
