If you have included externally hosted content like a Google Form within a Multimedia Lesson, you might have noticed that your students need to click a submission button to complete your form, as well as click "Complete & continue" within the Thinkific Course Player to complete the lesson.
To give you some context on why this is the case, the Multimedia Lesson type embeds part of another site within your Thinkific lesson. In order to protect your site and your students from vulnerabilities, web browsers use what's called an iframe to implement this sort of embedding.
To preserve security, the web browser doesn't allow for communication between an embedded site and the parent. A side effect of this is that Thinkific is unable to see a student's activity in the embedded form. This means that in order for a student to complete the lesson within Thinkific, they will still need to click "Complete & continue" in the Course Player.
How do I communicate this to my students?
- Include an introductory "How to use this course" lesson to instruct students to click the continue button to complete each lesson. Check out our Course Player Demo video for an example!
- Include instructions in your Google Form to instruct students to mark the lesson complete after submitting the form.
