About This Feature

Kit (formerly ConvertKit) is an email-first marketing platform. It allows Subject Matter Experts to engage, nurture, and grow their audience through automated emails, advanced segmentation, and revenue tracking. Kit helps businesses attract, convert and retain customers, and Kit allows you to increase the following:

Kit works with almost all products in Thinkific - so you can create automations to send emails to your students any time a new student creates an account, enrolls in a product, completes a course, and more!

Digital Downloads as Lead Magnets and Coaching & Webinar products as Lead Magnets are not supported.

How It Works

To use Thinkific and Kit together, you need to have:

  1. A Thinkific account
  2. A Kit account on the Creator or Creator Pro plan

If you are installing the Kit app for the first time, follow the installation instructions here.

If you have previously installed the legacy Kit (ConvertKit) app from the Thinkific App Store before October 03, 2025, you will need to migrate to the new app to get access to new and enhanced Kit integration features, such as:

  • advanced automation,
  • direct embedding of course modules,
  • enhanced reporting,
  • and more!

Follow the migration steps here.

Once you’ve installed the Thinkific app, anyone who has enrolled into a free or paid course will be immediately synced and added to your Kit account.

If the email address for a customer of your courses isn't already on your Kit subscriber list, that customer will be added as a new Kit subscriber with the appropriate tag.

If a member's email address matches that of a subscriber in Kit, they will automatically receive a new tag to identify that they are one of your Thinkific customers. 

New tags with Thinkific information will be automatically created on subscriber profiles in Kit. Learn more about it here: Kit + Thinkific.

Install the Kit App

If you are using the legacy ConvertKit app from the Thinkific App Store installed before October 3, 2025, follow the migration steps here.

You can install the new Kit app directly from Thinkific

  1. Locate the Kit App in the Thinkific App Store. Alternatively, you can install the Thinkific app directly from your Kit account by selecting Automate > Apps, and then choosing the Thinkific App.
  2. Click Install
  3. If necessary, log into Kit
  4. Click Grant access to Thinkific
  5. Enter your Thinkific subdomain (learn how to find it here: What is my Thinkific subdomain?)
  6. Click Install App
  7. Choose your sync preferences - the new Kit app allows you to choose whether you want to sync historical data or only sync data going forward (i.e. from the moment you install the app)

    1. Active Subscribers - choose whether to import/sync leads and students with account data (e.g. sign up date and progression)
    2. Unsubscribers - choose whether to reactivate any leads and students if they previously unsubscribed in Kit

    We strongly recommend pausing any automations before importing the data.

  8. Select Save and continue
  9. If you are not logged into your Thinkific or Kit site, you will be asked to log in
  10. Click Accept & Install

The Kit app is now installed, and your account has been connected!

The next step is to configure the integration to get the most out of it.

Migrate from Legacy Kit (ConvertKit) App

If you are installing the Kit app for the first time or after October 03, 2025, follow the instructions here.

If you already have a ConvertKit (Kit) app that you installed before October 03, 2025, you will need to migrate to the new version of the app to get access to more features, like advanced automation, direct embedding of course modules, enhanced reporting and more!

Before you migrate, here are the important things to remember:

  1. You will need to manually rebuild workflows that are related to Thinkific in your Kit account. It is not possible to automatically rebuild these workflows.
  2. Once the legacy app has been deleted, the existing workflows will be deleted
  3. If you install the new Kit app without first uninstalling the previous version, workflows might be disrupted and result in duplicate tagging of contacts.

To migrate to the new version of the app:

  1. From your Admin Dashboard, select Integrations
  2. Look for the ConvertKit app in your list of installed integrations
  3. Click the bin icon to the right of the ConvertKit integration
  4. Click Yes, uninstall
  5. Install the new app by following the instructions here.

Manage Your Integration

Now that you have installed the app and connected Thinkific and Kit, you can start creating automations, use Thinkific data in Kit, and send emails from Kit. To learn more, see: Kit + Thinkific.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why can't I see my tags in Kit?

When a student signs up, tags fire immediately; however, there will be a 45 - 60 min delay before your tags are visible in Kit. Make sure to check back later to confirm they are working as expected!

Why didn't my bulk enrollments trigger the API with Kit?

It is currently intended functionality for bulk enrollments not to trigger actions in other integrations (more on that here: Bulk Enroll and Unenroll Students FAQ). Bulk enrollments are not expected to trigger tags in Kit.

Do I need to migrate to the new app?

No, you do not have to migrate to the new app. You can continue using the existing legacy app, however, note the following:

  • You will not be able to utilize the enhanced functionality, such as advanced automations, direct embedding of course modules, enhanced reporting and more!
  • Updates may no longer be continued for the legacy app.
  • As the legacy app is no longer available on the Thinkific App Store, you will no longer be able to reinstall it.
