Pricing is an important step in the initial stages of launching any online business, and we are here to make sure that you are set up for success from the very beginning!
At Thinkific, we are confident that we have a plan that will work with each creator’s budget, regardless of whether you’re a new solo-preneur teaching online for the first time or if you’re a learning administrator for a large enterprise!
Here is a quick breakdown of all associated costs on the Thinkific platform:
Monthly or Yearly Subscription Cost
Transaction and Payment Processing Fees
Third-Party Payment Gateway Fees
Monthly or Yearly Subscription Cost
Thinkific plans are offered in monthly or yearly subscriptions. Monthly plans are billed on the same day each month and yearly plans are billed on the same day each year. In addition to the subscription fees, depending on your location, you may also be required to pay sales tax, value-added tax (VAT), or other taxes on top of the subscription fee. If a month is missing your plan renewal date, the billing date will shift to the last day of the month.

Cross Border Transaction Fees
Thinkific is a Canadian company. Depending on your card type, you may see a small additional fee (usually less than $1.00) appear on your credit card statement that coincides with your Thinkific subscription charge.
This is called a cross-border (C/B) or an international transaction fee (ITF). This fee is not charged by Thinkific. You may see that the statement descriptor shows as Thinkific.com however, the fee is actually being charged by your merchant provider (Visa, MasterCard, Amex, etc.)
You can learn more about these fees here: Foreign Transaction Fees
Transaction and Payment Processing Fees
This is a charge administered directly by a payment gateway and you will see these charges when you start accepting payment for your courses. Most payment processors charge around 2.9% + $0.30 for each successful transaction, but it does vary from country to country.
If you are a new Creator located in a supported country, Thinkific Payments will be your default payment processor. An exact transaction fee will depend on the payment method your students selected (credit card vs Buy Now Pay Later, etc) as well as your and student's location. If you are using our built-in integrations with Stripe or Paypal, we recommend referring to each payment gateway's respective site for more information:
Typically, these fees are not charged separately on your credit card, but withheld from each transaction.
Third-Party Payment Gateway Fees
The Third-Party Payment Gateway fee is charged on all transactions processed using third-party payment providers, like Stripe (in the future all third-party payment providers such as Paypal), as a percentage of the transaction value for creators in the USA, Canada, and the UK as of July 3rd, 2024 and for creators in the EU countries as of November 6th, 2024. Learn more here: Third-Party Payment Gateway Fee FAQ
