If you're experiencing problems with logging into your existing Thinkific site, here's how to troubleshoot the issue.

Having trouble logging into your Thinkific site can be frustrating. This article outlines common login issues—like forgotten passwords or technical errors—and provides troubleshooting steps to help you regain access and get back to building your online learning experience.

Forgot Password

If you have forgotten your password and are locked out of your account, you can trigger a password reset email right from your site sign-in page!

How to Reset Your Account Password

  1. Go to your Thinkific site
  2. Select Sign In on the top right
  3. On the login page, select Forgot Password
  4. Enter the email address you used to create your site
  5. Click Submit
  6. Check your email inbox for a password reset email for further instructions

Email Troubleshooting Steps

  • Make sure you are using the correct email address associated with your account.
  • Search your inbox and spam folders for the email addresses listed above. If these emails routinely end up in spam, consider adding these email addresses to the safe sender list in your email service provider settings (e.g. Outlook, Gmail).
  • Try resending the email. If you have still not received the email after a few minutes, try again.
  • If you are working for an organization, make sure Thinkific emails are not blocked by their Firewall or spam filter settings.
  • Still cannot login? Submit a login issues request here.

Incorrect Login Email

If you are trying to log into your account but are seeing an “Invalid email or password” notification, click on Forgot Password? on your login page to have a password reset email sent to your email address. You will only receive a password reset email if the user account is found with the email address provided. Try sending a password reset email using all possible emails you may have used to sign up with Thinkific.

Incorrect Login Site

If you are sure your login email and password are correct but are still unable to log into your account, you may be attempting to log into www.thinkific.com instead of your site. If you can't remember the address for your site, you can find it in the Welcome Email that was sent when you first signed up with Thinkific.

Single Sign-On (SSO) Issues

If you are using OpenID Connect SSO on your account and are unable to log in, try logging into your Thinkific Admin Dashboard without SSO. Once you’re logged in, make sure your SSO setup and configurations are correct and up to date.

Multi-Factor Authentification (MFA) Issues

Logging into your account with MFA enabled requires a limited-time code in the authenticator app on your mobile device. If the code does not work, you can regain access to your account with your recovery code from when you first set up MFA. If you lost your two-factor authentication (2FA) device and don't have your recovery code saved, please contact the Support team for assistance.

Custom Domain Issues

When integrating a Custom Domain with your Thinkific site, it is important to be aware that the changes may take up to 24-48 hours to propagate. During this time, you may encounter errors when attempting to access your site. To ensure a smooth experience, we recommend keeping your Thinkific URL as the primary domain during this period to avoid any potential issues. Once it has been propagated, you can then set your custom domain as your primary domain.

To confirm if your custom domain is correctly pointing to the Thinkific platform, double check the CNAME record in your domain host and perform a CNAME lookup. This will help validate the connection between your custom domain and Thinkific.

If you have already completed the necessary steps of creating a CNAME record and adding the Custom Domain to your Thinkific settings but are still facing log-in issues such as encountering the error message "The page you are looking for doesn't exist," contact the Support team for further assistance.

Technical Issues or Server Outages

Check the Thinkific Status Page for any reported technical issues or server outages. If there are ongoing issues, wait for the problem to be resolved. If no issues are reported, try clearing your browser cache and cookies and make sure you are using Google Chrome as your browser to access your Thinkifc account.

Account Suspension or Deactivation

If you believe your account has been suspended or deactivated, reach out to the Support team to inquire about the status and seek assistance in resolving the issue.

Account Hacked or Security Breached

If you have suspicions of your account being hacked or a security breach, immediately contact the Support team to report the issue and seek guidance on securing your account.

If the problem persists after troubleshooting, please submit a form to contact the Thinkific Support team for assistance.
