Accessing Your Subscriptions Dashboard
- Adopt Thinkific Payments in order to access and leverage all the integrated business management tools available on TCommerce, including the Subscriptions Dashboard
- Click on the Analytics section located on the left-hand side of your Admin Dashboard
- Select Revenue in the dropdown menu
- Select TCommerce Subscriptions
Understanding Your Subscriptions Dashboard
The Subscriptions Dashboard exclusively displays data sourced from subscriptions and payment plan purchases processed through Thinkific Payments. If you're switching from Stripe to Thinkific Payments, your subscriptions will take 30-60 days to migrate and be reflected in the Subscriptions Dashboard.
The Subscriptions Dashboard consists of data tiles that present insights according to your specified filters. You can filter your dashboard by date, date granularity, product name, and payment type to meet your business needs. Additionally, each tile features an information icon that provides an explanation of how your data is calculated and displayed.

Current MRR
Current MRR data gives you insights into the expected monthly income from your products that have recurring payments. MRR is calculated by normalizing weekly or yearly payments to monthly equivalents. By analyzing your Current MRR, you can assess the stability and predictability of your recurring revenue streams.Click on the Current MRR value to view the list of recurring payments that are currently active. Click on the values in the Sum of Payments or Count of Payments columns to see the detailed breakdown of each transaction for that specific order.

Count of Active Subscriptions
An active subscription is any subscription or payment plan with non-zero recurring payments. Monitoring the number of active subscriptions or payment plans provides valuable insights into your learner base and their engagement with your offerings.Click on the Count of Active Subscriptions value to view the list of recurring payments that are currently active. Click on the values in the Sum of Payments or Count of Payments columns to see the detailed breakdown of each transaction for that specific order.

Current Paused MRR
Paused MRR refers to the revenue lost due to learners pausing their subscriptions temporarily. Tracking this data helps you understand the impact of paused subscriptions on your overall revenue and identify opportunities to reduce pausing behavior.Click on the Current Paused MRR value to view the list of recurring payments that are currently paused. Click on the values in the Sum of Payments or Count of Payments columns to see the detailed breakdown of each transaction for that specific order.

Average Revenue per Subscription
By calculating the average revenue per subscription, you can assess the value contributed from each subscription. Monitoring changes over time helps identify trends and informs decisions on pricing and revenue optimization (see the graph below). The average revenue per subscription is calculated by totaling the current monthly recurring revenue (MRR) of all active subscriptions and dividing it by the number of active orders or enrollments. This accounts for learners who may be enrolled in more than one subscription, providing a more accurate representation of the revenue generated per subscription. -
Subscriptions Count
Monitoring the number of new subscriptions or payment plans allows you to gauge the growth and acquisition rate of new learners. It helps you understand the effectiveness of your marketing and sales efforts. The subscription count only tracks non-zero value orders. This ensures that any subscription orders given out for zero dollars through discounts or for free are not counted, providing a clear and accurate representation of your learner base engagement. -
MRR (Monthly Recurring Revenue)
MRR represents the predictable revenue generated from your subscriptions on a monthly basis. It provides a key indicator of your business's stability and growth potential, helping you assess the financial health of your business.
MRR is calculated on a daily basis for all active subscriptions. If you are selling in a currency other than USD, the end-of-day USD conversion rate is applied to the MRR calculation for that day to turn the MRR value from the original currency of the transaction to USD. -
New vs Churned Subscriptions and MRR
Comparing the number of new learners against the number of churned learners to changes in MRR provides insights into your learner acquisition and retention efforts. It helps you assess the effectiveness of your marketing, onboarding, and learner success initiatives.

MMR churn rate measures the percentage of MRR lost due to learners canceling or not renewing their subscriptions within a given period. Monitoring churn rate helps you evaluate learner retention, identify reasons for attrition, and implement strategies to improve learner satisfaction and reduce churn. MRR churn rate is calculated by dividing the amount of MRR lost due to canceled subscriptions or payment plans by the MRR at the beginning of the period. -
Average Revenue per Subscription graph
Average Revenue per Subscription (see above) presented as a trend over time. By calculating the average revenue per subscription, you can assess the value contributed from each subscription. Monitoring changes over time helps identify trends and informs decisions on pricing and revenue optimization. -
Lifetime Value (LTV)
Lifetime Value (LTV) allows you to get deeper insights into the long-term value of your subscription. This metric provides a picture of the financial health of your subscriber base and enables strategic planning for growth and retention efforts.
LTV is calculated as the average revenue per subscription divided by the subscription churn rate. The subscription churn rate is determined over a 30-day window. It is calculated by dividing the sum of churned subscriptions in the past 30 days by the number of active subscriptions from 30 days ago, plus any new subscriptions within those 30 days.When the churn rate is 0%, a default churn rate of 2.77% is assumed, which corresponds to an assumed lifetime of 3 years.

Tracking the count of total subscription products sold helps you understand the popularity and demand for different subscription offerings. It enables you to optimize your product portfolio and make informed decisions about pricing and product enhancements.

The New Trials vs Converted Trials chart displays the comparison between the number of new trials and the number of trials that have converted to paid subscriptions over time. It offers the flexibility to view data on a weekly, monthly, or quarterly basis. -

Active Trials
The number of subscription orders currently in their trial period. -
Potential MRR from Active Trials
The projected monthly recurring revenue (MRR), assuming all current active trials convert to paid subscriptions. -
Converted Trials
Represents the number of trials that upgraded into paid subscriptions when the trial period ended. -
Trial Conversion Rate
The ratio of trials that converted to paid subscriptions within a specific timeframe to the total number of completed trials in the same period. -
Converted MRR
The increase in monthly recurring revenue (MRR) that can be attributed to trials that have successfully converted to paid subscriptions. -
Churned Subscriptions
The Churned Subscriptions table lists Subscription or Payment Plan orders that have churned either because the student has canceled or failed to renew the subscription. This report allows you to see churned students, measure the financial impact on future revenue by using the churned MRR field, see the revenue earned from each order, see the history of transactions, and use this information for reactivation purposes.The Churned subscriptions dashboard will also show Payment Plans that are fully paid by the student. These can be distinguished by the MRR Status of Payment Plan Completed in the MRR Status field.

Will the transactions made through Stripe show in this dashboard?
If you're switching from Stripe to Thinkific Payments, your subscriptions will take 30-60 days to migrate from Stripe to Thinkific Payments and they will be reflected in the Subscriptions Dashboard once the migration is complete. Subscriptions that were not migrated to Thinkific Payments will not be shown in the Subscription Dashboard.
What currency does the Subscription Dashboard use to show the subscription data?
The data is displayed in USD. If you are selling in a currency other than USD, the end-of-day USD conversion rate is applied to the MRR for that day to turn the MRR value from the original currency of the transaction to USD.
