Overview
The Thinkific Mobile App and a Branded Mobile App allow your students to easily access their learning products wherever they are, using a native app on their mobile devices. Once your students have downloaded the mobile app and logged in, they will have access to a variety of both Course and Community features.
As our mobile offerings are being built out and improved, we continue to work on features that can help you and your students get the most out of the app. Check out the list of features below to see what unique features are currently supported by the Thinkific Mobile App and a Branded Mobile App.
Mobile App solutions built by Thinkific were designed specifically for your students, which means that any Admin activity will need to be done using the desktop web browser version of Thinkific. We recommend that creators design their products with the desktop (browser) experience in mind, and inform students that the Mobile App is a supplementary tool for students.
Mobile-Only Features
Both Branded and Thinkific Mobile Apps offer some unique features that are available only via a mobile app.
Drip Lesson Release Notifications
Your students can now receive notifications on their mobile app letting them know when previously locked lessons are available! This feature can help keep your students engaged with your materials and draw them back to your course whenever new materials are available.
When a new lesson is released via a Drip Schedule, your students will receive a push notification informing them that new lessons are now available. Your students can click on the notification to be brought to the newly released lesson.
If your students are not receiving drip release notifications, they need to ensure that they have enabled the Push Notifications. See more on that here: Communities in the Mobile App (Student Resource).
Push Notifications for Community Activity
Draw students back in and keep engagement high with the new push notifications when new activity happens in communities that students are enrolled in!
In addition to the in-app and web notifications, students can receive push notifications directly to their mobile devices.The push notifications are sent:
- When they are added to a community
- When an Admin creates a new post
- When someone mentions them in a post
- When someone comments on their post or a post they are following
- When someone replies to their comment or a thread they are following
If your students are not receiving community activity notifications, they need to ensure that the Thinkific Mobile app has permission to send notifications to their mobile device. See more on that here: Communities in the Mobile App (Student Resource).
In-App Notifications for Community Activity
In-app notifications allow your students to keep track of events and activities in their communities and access the feed of all notifications in a single place in the app. The in-app notifications appear:
- When they are added to a community
- When an Admin creates a new post
- When someone mentions them in a post
- When someone comments on their post or a post they are following
- When someone replies to their comment or a thread they are following
To access notifications, students can select the Notifications tab in the Thinkific Mobile app. The number next to the bell on the Notifications tab will indicate the total number of new (unread) notifications. Unread notifications will have a blue dot next to them. To access the post where a learner was mentioned or to view a comment or a reply on the post they are following, they can click on the notification.
Branded Mobile-Only Features
The Branded Mobile app solution built by Thinkific offers some unique features that are not available with the Thinkific Mobile app.
Your Own App Store listings
The Branded Mobile app solution allows you to publish your own white-labeled app on your personal Google Play Store and Apple App Store listings. This makes it easy to increase your brand visibility and recognition in the app stores, making it easy for your audience to discover your branded mobile app.
Once the Thinkific team sets you up with your own branded app, you have control of when and how you release your app to your audience, how you position your app, or how you respond to your app reviews.
App With Your Branding
With Branded Mobile by Thinkific, we'll build and maintain a white-labeled app for your online courses and communities so you can focus on what you do best. The Branded Mobile app solution allows you to have the mobile app with your own brand name, colors, app icon, and loading screen.

Automatic App Updates
When new app versions are created, they will automatically be submitted for review and pushed live to your app store listings on your behalf - saving you time and getting the latest and greatest app version in your audience’s hands faster than ever.
In-App Purchases
Take your audience’s learning journey to new heights! Your users can now expand their skills by purchasing new select products directly within your mobile app. With Apple and Google Play’s in-app purchase systems, they can easily tap, purchase, and get access to new (select) products.
Revenue from in-app purchases will be deposited directly into your bank accounts from the app stores. You can also see all purchases made from within your branded app, by going to the Orders tab of your Thinkific site.
This feature is exclusive to creators using Branded apps. For most Branded apps, in-app purchases will be required for your app to be approved in the app stores.
