As of January 4, 2023, we are updating our Zapier integration from API Key Authentication to OAuth. Creators who have connected with Zapier and have active zaps prior to this date will be able to continue using the legacy version with the option to migrate later to the latest version of Zapier with OAuth.

About This Feature
Thinkific App Store’s Zapier app has been updated from using API Key Authentication to OAuth to align with the standard protocol for all Thinkific App Store apps. This update means that there is no longer any need to copy an API key and manually connect for Zapier users! Whether you've had Zapier integrated with your Thinkific website before January 4, 2023, or are a first-time user, Zapier will be able to automate and optimize your manual tasks to keep your business running smoothly.

How to Install Zapier on Your Thinkific Website
- Locate the Zapier app in the App Store
- Click Install and then Accept
How to Connect Zapier to Thinkific by Creating a Zap

- Create and log into your Zapier account
- Click + Create then, New Zap to create a new zap from your Zapier Admin Dashboard
- Search for Thinkific in the search bar under Choose app & event and select Thinkific
- Under Event, choose an event that will trigger your zap and click Continue
- Under Choose Account, click Sign in and fill in the Subdomain field with your Thinkfic subdomain before clicking Yes, Continue
Your Thinkific subdomain can be found under Setting > Code & analytics > API from your Thinkific Admin Dashboard - Click Accept & Install on the pop-up consent page
Once you accept and install, your Zapier and Thinkific accounts will be linked. You can confirm the integration by finding the Zapier app under Apps from your Thinkific Admin Dashboard. - Continue following the prompts in Zapier to create your first zap by continuing to set up your zap trigger and zap action
- Test your zap to ensure it is in working order
- Click Publish to create your first zap
How to Manually Migrate from Legacy Zapier to Zapier with OAuth
Limited maintenance will be provided to Legacy Zapier. To ensure you are receiving the most out of Zapier, we encourage Creators on Legacy Zapier to migrate to Zapier with OAuth so we can better support you.
If you're a Creator who has connected to Zapier prior to January 4, 2023, your existing Thinkific zaps will continue to function as expected using the legacy version of Zapier. When you decide to edit your Thinkific zaps or create a new zap, you will be prompted to reconnect to the latest version of Zapier from your Zapier Admin Portal by signing into your Thinkific site using your Thinkific subdomain.
Update the Thinkific app to the Latest Version
Zap configurations may be lost when updating to the latest version.
We recommend you take note of each zap configuration prior to updating.
- Log into your Zapier account
- Click on the Zap section on your Zapier Admin Dashboard
- Select a Thinkific zap to access the Zap Editor and click Edit Zap in the top right
- Select the trigger or action section that uses Thinkific in the Zap Editor
- Open the Choose app & event section and click Change in the app field
- In the Search apps input box, search and select Thinkific
- Under Choose Account, click Sign in and fill in the Subdomain field with your Thinkfic subdomain before clicking Yes, Continue
- Click Accept & Install on the pop-up consent page

Update the Trigger or Action to the Latest Version In the Zap Editor
Once you have updated your Thinkific app in Zapier to the latest version, you will need to manually update each zap trigger and action to the new app.
- Select the trigger or action section that uses Thinkific in the Zap Editor
- Open the Choose app & event section and click Change in the app field
- In the Search apps input box, search and select Thinkific
- Click Publish

Do I need to upgrade my Zapier or Thinkific plan update to the new version of Zapier?
No, you will not need to upgrade your Zapier or Thinkific plan to update to Zapier with OAuth.
How do I know I have successfully connected to the latest version of Zapier and that my Zaps are working?
You will know that you have successfully upgraded to Zapier if you have followed the instructions above to reconnect your Thinkific site and are able to see the Zapier app within your Apps section on your Thinkific Admin Dashboard.
Once you have reconnected and had your zap triggers and actions updated, you can test your zaps to make sure they’re working.
Do I need to manually edit and reconnect each individual Thinkific x Legacy Zapier zap?
Yes, if you have created zaps in any of your Zapier accounts before January 4, 2023, your existing apps will continue to work as expected. However, you will have to update to Zapier with OAuth and reconnect to your Thinkific Site if you decide to edit your existing Thinkific x Legacy Zapier zaps or create a new zap in the future.
