Basic Functionality
Can I do everything on the app without going to the web version?
The app is considered an additive complement to the web experience. You will be able to spend the majority of time on the app, however, you will still need to access the web to complete actions, such as:
- enrolling in / purchasing learning products
- participating in live events
- updating your account / accessing certificates
Does the Thinkific Mobile app work everywhere or are there location limitations?
There are no regional access limitations. We are global, so the Thinkific Mobile app works everywhere Thinkific does.
What are the operating system requirements?
For mobile device operating system requirements, see OS (Operating System) Requirements for the Thinkific Mobile App (Student Resource).
Will I be able to access both my Courses and Communities on the App?
Yes! You will be able to access both communities and courses, however, there are some course features that are not currently supported. To learn more, check out Courses in the Mobile App (Student Resource), Communities in the Mobile App (Student Resource).
Does the Thinkific Mobile app cost anything?
No, the Thinkific Mobile app itself is completely free! Since the app is complementary to the web experience, you might still need to be able to purchase learning products to get access to content, but this will need to be done via a browser version of a Thinkific site.
Can I enroll in a course or a community from within the Mobile App?
Not at this time. The Thinkific Mobile app is considered to be complementary to the web experience. You will need to use the web (browser) version to enroll in any courses or communities before you will be able to access them using the Mobile App.
I purchased courses from two different schools hosted on Thinkific. Can I show them all in the app?
No, you cannot combine courses and communities from different schools. You will need to log out of one school and log into another one if you want to switch between courses that are located on different Thinkific sites. See how to do it here: How to Install and Log In to the Thinkific Mobile App (Student Resource).
Can the app be enabled in dark mode?
Not at this time. The app follows colors that are set by your instructor.
I logged in to the app, but do not see any courses or communities I am enrolled in?
You need to make sure you are using the right email when logging in or using the same login option that you used to create an account.
Specifically, if you created an account using one option (e.g. an email), but are signing in using Apple SSO with the Hide My Email feature enabled, you will create a new account instead of accessing the original one. If this happened, see the troubleshooting steps here: Mobile App Troubleshooting (Student Resource).
Can I switch the language of the app?
The language setting for the mobile app is determined by the language of your device and applies to the default text only (e.g. buttons, tab names, etc). If you would like to change the language of the app, you will need to change the language on your device.
Currently, the following languages are supported: Chinese - Traditional, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Latvian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese - Brazil, Romanian, Russian, Slovenian, Spanish, Spanish - Mexican, Swedish, Turkish, Vietnamese.
Courses
Can I access content offline?
No, the Thinkific Mobile App does not support the delivery of the content offline. Your instructor might allow you to download certain lesson content (videos, PDFs, audio), which you can view directly on your device.
Can I download files from lessons?
Yes! Both Downloads and PDF lesson types are available on the Mobile App. Additionally, your instructor might allow you to download certain lesson content (videos, PDFs, audio)which you can view directly on your device.
Does the course progress in the app transfer to the web version and vice versa?
Yes. When you complete a lesson on the mobile app, it will be marked as complete in the web version as well. This is also true for the reverse.
Communities
Can I unsubscribe from in-app or push notifications? Or can I specify which in-app or push notifications I want to receive?
It is not possible to unsubscribe from push, in-app, or web app notifications or customize which push or in-app notifications you receive. You can unfollow specific posts individually if you do not want to get updates about new comments or replies. You can also unsubscribe from all email community notifications by following the instructions here: Community Guide (Student Resource).
Why do I not receive any push notifications?
You need to ensure that the Thinkific Mobile app has permission to send notifications to your mobile device. You can enable them within the app, see the instructions here: Communities in the Mobile App (Student Resource).
