Question

  • How do I verify my website for my Google Play Console account?
  • Which option should I choose to verify my website?

Solution

There are several options that Google Search Console offers to verify your website, and some methods may be more relevant to you than others. To learn more about each method, check out Google's article: Verify your website.

Below are the verification methods that we recommend.

Google Tag Manager or Google Analytics tracking code

Choose this method if your website already has Google Tag Manager or Google Analytics implemented.

Google Tag Manager

  1. Choose the Google Tag Manager method on the Ownership verification page for your property in Search Console
  2. Click Verify

Google Analytics tracking code

  1. Choose the Google Analytics method on the Ownership verification page for your property in Search Console
  2. Click Verify

HTML Tag

Choose this method if you or your developer are comfortable editing your site's theme code to add the HTML verification tag. This method is also helpful if you are not using a Custom Domain for your Thinkific site.

  1. Choose the HTML Tag method on the Ownership verification page for your property.
  2. Copy the tag from the Search Console verification wizard into the <head> section in the HTML of your site's default page.
    Example:
    <head>
    <meta name="google-site-verification" content="......." />
    </head>
  3. On the Google Search Console verification page, click Verify

Domain name provider

If you have configured a Custom Domain and have access to your domain provider (i.e. GoDaddy, CloudFlare, etc.).

Google has various options regarding the domain name method, we recommend checking which option is best for you here: Domain name provider.

  1. Choose the Domain name provider method on the Ownership verification page for your property in Search Console.
  2. Select your DNS provider from the drop down selector
  3. Follow the prompts with instruction specific to your provider
  4. On the Google Search Console verification page, click Verify

Important Considerations

  • If the recommended options above won't work for your configuration, visit Google's article to Verify your website to learn about the other methods.
  • Thinkific is unable to access any of the above tools on your behalf.
