About This Feature
This features helps keep your Thinkific site safe against spam and other types of automated abuse.
How It Works
The feature is automatically enabled and implemented on your sign up and sign in pages. It will appear for both the default sign up / sign in page and on your checkout sign up / sign in page. When the invisible reCAPTCHA is enabled, you will see the logo in the bottom right corner to indicate that the site is protected by reCAPTCHA:
With the invisible reCAPTCHA enabled, we use Google's algorithm to determine whether the visitor's activity is considered suspicious and if so, your sign in / sign up page will show the CAPTCHA question (typically selecting images that contain a specific item).
The invisible reCAPTCHA does not always appear or require the user to complete the CAPTCHA so in most cases, your students will not be delayed in signing up or signing in on your site. They may be asked to complete the CAPTCHA question if they have too many failed attempts in signing in such as typing in the incorrect password multiple times.
Why did we add this?
Adding in a reCAPTCHA feature was intended to help keep your site safe from automated abuse and spam! With any online platform, there are individuals who attempt to do malicious activity on any site they can find so we want to ensure that you and your students are protected.
In particular, the reCAPTCHA can protect you from a credential stuffing attempt, which is when someone takes a list of stolen user names and password combinations from another breached platform, and attempts every combination of credentials on your site.
reCAPTCHA is now common and recommended on most platforms to maintain security and trust with your users.
