How to add downloads to a lesson depends on which course builder you are using. In the New Course Builder, downloads are added as a content block within a lesson. In the Classic Course Builder, Download is its own lesson type.


How to Add Downloads in the New Course Builder

In the New Course Builder, files are added as a Downloads content block within a lesson. Files added this way are available for learners to download directly from the lesson.

  1. From the content menu, select Downloads.
  2. Drag and drop your file(s), or browse and select files from your device.
  3. Once uploaded, rename files if desired.
  4. Click Save.

You can upload up to 10 files per lesson, with a file size limit of 2GB per file.

How to Add a Downloads Lesson in the Classic Course Builder

In the Classic Course Builder, Download is its own lesson type. You can attach multiple files for learners to download directly from the lesson.

  1. From your Admin Dashboard, select Products.
  2. Select Courses.
  3. Hover over the course card and click Edit.
  4. Locate the chapter you would like to add a Downloads lesson to.
  5. Select + Add lesson.
  6. Select Download.
  7. Enter a lesson name and, optionally, add a description.
  8. Upload your files by dragging and dropping, or using the Browse files option.
  9. Once uploaded, rename files if desired.
  10. Click Save lesson.

You can upload up to 100 files per lesson, with a file size limit of 2GB per file.

When a learner clicks Download on the lesson, the file will open in a new browser tab where they can right-click to save it to their device.

Images: jpg, jpeg, png, gif, webp, bmp, avif, tiff, cur

Audio: mp3, aac, m4a, wav, midi, opus

Video: mp4, mov, m4v, avi, ogg, webm, 3gpp and others

Fonts: ttf, otf, woff, woff2

Other: json, xml, ics, srt, kpf, cdf

Classic Course Builder

Documents: pdf, doc, docx, xls, xlsx, xlt, odt, ods, ppt, pptx, pps, epub, rtf, txt, csv

Images: png, jpeg, tiff, gif, webp, bmp

Video: mp4, mov, m4v, wmv, flv, webm, qt, avi, ogg, ogv, 3gp, 3gpp, 3g2, 3gpp2, mp2, mpe, mpeg, mpg, wm, wmx, wvx, viv, vivo, movie, f4p

Important Considerations

  • HTML, SVG, and DMG file types are not supported.
  • You can upload up to 10 files per lesson in the New Course Builder, and up to 100 files per lesson in the Classic Course Builder.
  • File size is limited to 2GB per file in both builders.
  • When a learner clicks Download in the Classic Course Builder, the file opens in a new browser tab where they can right-click to save it to their device.
