Question
- Can I take an initial payment from students who want to purchase my course?
Solution
You may want to take a deposit from students in cases where you are offering limited spaces on your course, or for example in specific circumstances in the case of a special request from a student.
One option would be to arrange payment outside of Thinkific or manually through Stripe and, once they have paid their deposit you can provide the student with a coupon discounting the price of the course, or even send them a link for enrollment to the course with the coupon already applied. Whichever option you choose will depend on whether you are expecting to charge only one size of deposit, or if you're keeping flexible with deposit offers and creating a unique coupon each time based off of the deposit paid.
If preferred you can create a one-time course for the price of the deposit and provide the student with the Checkout Link to this course, where the purchase if this course can be treated as the deposit. From there it's up to you whether you would like to provide the student with immediate access to the course, or wait until the remainder of the course price can be paid.
